Fighting Hunger

According to Feeding America, one out of 11 adults in Massachusetts experiences hunger – as do one out of 10 children. Things right now are even more dire, as the COVID-19 pandemic and associated job losses have driven demand for food banks through the roof. At the same time, social distancing requirements have resulted in fewer fundraisers and canned food drives to stock the shelves at food banks.

We can all help by donating to our local food banks. The Merrimack Valley Food Bank (MVFB) has been the recipient of Canstruction Boston’s canned foods and fundraising since 2011; all entry fees from design teams, donations from sponsors, and funds raised by the design teams are being donated to the MVFB.

The MVFB is a community-supported 501C-3 non-profit organization that provides nutritious food and personal care items to emergency feeding programs that serve the low-income, homeless, and hungry. They are one of four food banks in Massachusetts that serves food pantries, shelters, and meal programs that in turn serve individuals and families. The MVFB works with 110 partner agencies to get food to people in 32 communities from greater Boston up to New Hampshire.
