About This Position

Gienapp Architects is seeking an experienced Architectural Specifications Writer to join our team in Danvers, MA. As a spec writer, you will be working with our firm’s architectural staff to develop, write, and edit CSI-format architectural specifications for a broad array of projects. The ideal candidate is highly organized, well-versed in the requirements of construction specifications, and able to work as part of a team.

Specifications Writer Responsibilities
• Work closely with project managers and project architects in the preparation of specifications and the development of complete Project Manuals using CSI Divisions 00 through 14.
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure appropriate specification formatting and inclusion of specifications from outside disciplines.
• Prepare and coordinate packages to be bid
• Ensure coordination and compliance with drawings, for accuracy and completeness.
• Support research of new materials, products, assemblies, and systems as needed for project.
• Become familiar with office standards and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills
• Experience working closely with architects
• Minimum 3 years’ experience writing CSI format architectural specifications
• Experience with SpecLink or similar specifications software
• Familiarity with Massachusetts public bidding (Chapter 149) not required, but desirable
• Strong technical skills
• Ability to work both independently and on a team
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Education
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in architecture preferred, Bachelor's degree minimum
• CSI, CDT, or CCS certification a plus

Job Type

• Part-time with potential to become Full-time

Work Location
• Must be able to commute to Danvers, MA.
