Last Exit to (a lost) Boston
Photography and text by Leslie Fenn
In the 1980's I lived in a tiny apartment off Fifth Street in Cambridge. In the early mornings I walked down to Lechmere Station, the smells of fresh candy from the nearby factories strange companions in that otherwise deserted space. The train was already there, waiting to begin its slow, creaky roller coaster ride into Boston.
For a look at the ride from Lechmere Station into Boston, read Boston Globe reporter Steve Annear's An Ode to the view of Boston from a Red Line Train Crossing the Longfellow Bridge.
