My house is me and I am it
On ten summer Thursdays, the Highland Street Foundation hosts 10 free Thursday morning programs for Boston's preschool students in Boston Common at the Tadpole playground. The ReadBoston Storymobile attends each week to bring a storyteller and distribute books to participants. Additional educational programing is presented by nonprofit partners from across the city.
On Thursday, August 3, the BSA Foundation was honored to be the educational partner for the day. BSA Foundation staff and volunteers guided over 350 toddlers through a design activity based on Daniel Pinkwater's book The Big Orange Splot. Children used crayons and construction paper shapes to turn a simple house into a design that reflects their dreams and who they are. Colorful facades emerged of houses that children wanted to share with families, their pets and even a few ninja warriors.
The BSA Foundation was proud to partner on this important educational initiative of the Highland Street Foundation.
