Please join us in our upcoming virtual COTE meeting, showcasing a brand new COTE Top Ten recipient. Our guest speakers, Leers Weinzapfel Architects, BVH Integrated Services, STIMSON, and Atelier Ten, will discuss the team’s integrated approach to sustainability throughout design, construction, and post-occupancy energy performance verification of the John W. Olver Design Building at University of Massachusetts. The building exemplifies the university’s commitment to sustainable and innovative design with its LEED Gold certification and demonstration of emerging wood construction technologies. Bringing together the previously dispersed Departments of Architecture, Building Construction Technology, and Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning, the Olver building fosters multidisciplinary collaboration and expressively integrates building, landscape architecture, and building technology. The Olver Building has been recognized by BSA for both design excellence (Design Award 2017) and sustainable design (Sustainable Design Honor Award 2018) and by the AIA (COTE Top Ten Award 2020). (Note – this is a very similar content to what was presented in our September 2019 meeting. That day we had an unfortunate last-minute change of location and very few folks made it.)
