Guest Speaker:
Robert M. Leber PE
, Senior Vice President, Director of Cambridge Office Cosentini Associates – A Tetra Tech Company

For this 7th session of the 2020 Codes Committee’s annual cycle of code presentations, we are pleased to welcome our old friend Bob Leber from Cosentini Associates.

Currently, buildings are designed to protect structures and occupants from smoke, fire, wind, power outages, and flooding. As we navigate the new normal during the coronavirus pandemic, expectations of building owners and occupants will change in regards to health and safety. Starting now, our buildings must facilitate wellness and, more critically, safeguard public health.

After examining some of the known critical properties of the coronavirus, like virus dose, droplet size and transmission, this presentation will review control of airborne contaminates, materials selection, building zones, and technology. Bob will proceed to specific strategies for controlling air treatment systems, e.g., static filtration, electronically charged filters, ionization, sanitizers, and humidification.

Bob will also discuss emerging technologies for filtration, scanning occupants, and touchless devices, with a comparison of some of the options. Bob will closeout with a discussion of specific types of room occupancy, operational imperatives for owners, and social behavioral changes for the occupants.

As a complement to the discussion our speaker will provide a PDF of the presentation, on request.
