EDI Network/On the Same Page: September Meeting

  • COST

Free and open to the public.

  • TYPE

    Knowledge Community

  • AUDIENCE

    Professionals

Inspired by the format of a book club but designed to include both print and other media such as movies and podcasts, On the Same Page seeks to bring individuals together for an open conversation. We acknowledge that much remains to be learned about inequities and systemic injustices and propose that we will benefit from exploring these topics with each other.

For our next meeting at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021, please feel free to read/view some or all of the following material:
Book: Killing Rage written by bell hooks (288 pages)
Video: bell hooks & Laverne Cox in a Public Dialogue at The New School. Available on YouTube here. (1 hr 30 min minutes)
Article: America’s Cities Were Designed to Oppress written by Bryan Lee Jr. Link here.

In addition, we have compiled the book list below for our upcoming meetings. We welcome print and other media suggestions from participants – please bring suggestions to our next meeting or send them to the co-chairs (contact information below).

As a reminder, please consider supporting your local bookstore, or purchase from sites such as indiebound.org or bookshop.org. Before each meeting, we will share accompanying audio or video materials. Primary selections for the next several meetings are as follows:
• Jonathan F. Rose, Well-Tempered City
• James Baldwin, The Fire Next Time
• Deirdre Mask, The Address Book: What Street Addresses Reveal about Identity, Race, Wealth, and Power
