This is a brief report on codes and regulatory activities including the status of pending legislation and Building Code / regulatory changes of interest to Owners, Developers, Architects, and Engineers. Topics include the status of Codes by Boards that oversee areas of building construction and coordination of codes (BCCC).

This presentation reviews the common code issues encountered when designing a laboratory building. Available code compliance options for the storage and use of hazardous materials in the built environment are explored throughout the spectrum from small-quantity users in school laboratories to large-scale manufacturing facilities. This workshop will address exempt quantities, control areas, hazardous exhaust systems and high hazard use groups as well as the design implications for projects that incorporate hazardous materials. We will also review requirements for max. laboratory unit size, means of egress, emergency showers, hazardous exhaust, and other topics.
