WMAIA Tour and Panel: The Living Building Challenge
Please note that Western Massachussets AIA has extended the registration deadline for BSA/SCUP to 6/21.
The Living Building Challenge is the built environment's most rigorous performance standard. It calls for the creation of building projects at all scales that operate as cleanly, beautifully and efficiently as natures architecture. To be certified under the Challenge, projects must meet a series of ambitious performance requirements over a minimum of 12 months of continuous occupancy. This program assembles a 10-member panel comprised of owners, OPMs, contractors, architects and specialists directly involved in the four Living Building Challenge projects in Western Massachusetts.
These include:
The Bechtel Environmental Classroom, Smith College;
The Kern Center, Hampshire College;
The Hitchcock Center for the Environment, Amherst MA; and
Zilkha Center for Environmental Initiatives, Williams College.
The program includes a tour of the Zilkha Center.
