Tour of Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home

This month’s Design for Aging Committee meeting will feature a tour of the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home as a follow up to the building renovation case-study presented in January’s DFA meeting, which explored affordability in long term care, the deinstitutionalization of health care environments, and an answer to the question “what can be done with those dreadful old nursing homes?”
Using lessons learned from the organization’s award-winning sister facility, the Leonard Florence Center GreenHouse® nursing home, this major renovation incorporates essential components of the small “household” concept within the traditional 30 year old legacy nursing facility. The transformation creates residential environments that support and enhance the quality life of residents.
The tour will be lead by the design team: Diane Dooley AIA principal architect and Bill Lassetter Assoc. AIA project manager from DiMella Shaffer; and Sandra Harris interior designer, president of S. Harris Interiors. We will be joined by Ed Stewart, executive director at Chelsea Jewish Lifecare.

Please meet at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home lobby at 5:15 pm. The tour will begin promptly at 5:30.
