The New Inpatient Building at BI Deaconess Medical Center – Expanding Inpatient Care

Millie Baker AIA and Susan Blomquist AIA of Payette will describe the ongoing design of the NIB at BIDMC with a focus on the unique challenges of the site and program.

In this session you will learn:
1. To explore the challenges and solutions for building a large inpatient building on an uniquely constrained site.
2. To illustrate the structural solution for large span construction in healthcare and how it impacts planning.
3. To describe the impact of expanding Perioperative Services on overall patient flow through the medical center.
4. To learn about developing the design of the ideal patient room through an intensive user participation model.
