"If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." This famous phrase attributed to Abraham Maslow (and a few others) is applicable to many situations. It is generally understood that, with limited tools (or thinking), people tend to apply them inappropriately or indiscriminately, without investigating alternative strategies. In our context of investigating the importance of visualization to our design process, we'll ask the big question: "How does our selection of a design tool or technique influence the final design?"

This meeting will be split into two halves. Peter Atwood will be joining our co-chairs to present some common and uncommon tools and techniques in the first half our time together. The second half will be devoted to interaction with you - a "show and tell" - to see what experiences you have had, go-to tools you rely on, and research on new media that you are exploring to support design. Please bring what you need to share on a flash drive, weblink, laptop, or the back of a napkin. We'll supply the refreshments.
