Looking Behind the Scenes
The structures—and the cans they are made of—are the most recognizable part of Canstruction Boston’s annual event. Behind the scenes, though, our participating teams and committee volunteers make this event happen through hard work and determination—and they have a lot of fun in the process.
The saying “measure twice, cut once” rings very true for Canstruction Boston design-build teams. The planning and design phase is critical to building a great structure! Our teams have shared some behind-the-scenes content that shows what that process looks like.
In 2017, Canstruction Boston added a new award category to reward teams for showing creativity on social media. The goal of the Social Media Souper Star award is to help raise awareness of hunger, the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, and the event itself–and our teams stepped up with amazing content.
The event typically culminates in a 12-hour build day, where all the planning and design are put to the test. It’s a labor of love, and the results speak for themselves. While the built structures are highlighted here, the process for how they are built is worth understanding.
