Call for Submissions: 2021 Design Awards
The BSA Design Awards are an opportunity to recognize exemplary projects designed by and for our community that represent excellent design work, collaboration across disciplines, and investment from committed clients. Submissions for the 2021 Design Awards are open today.
Nine distinct awards across a range of categories honor projects that demonstrate the power of what great design can accomplish.
This summer, we invite you to submit your best work to the BSA Design Awards. Submission deadlines for all categories run throughout August. Five of this year's awards category programs—Accessible Design, Higher Education Facilities Design, Hospitality Design, Housing Design, and Small Firms Design—run every two years.
While the categories are diverse, all winning projects in all categories will be awarded based on a shared criterion: design excellence.
This year, the BSA will honor projects that embody critical values—the principles of the AIA Framework for Design Excellence and the BSA Impact Areas: Advancing Architecture, Environment, and Equity.
The Framework for Design Excellence sets standards for buildings that demonstrate progress toward a zero-carbon, equitable, resilient and healthy built environment. While projects submitted do not need to address all the measures included in the framework, they must highlight relevant metrics when applicable.
Architects and designers can leverage the power of design to create
impact with innovative and new ideas that address issues of
sustainability and social equity while advancing the profession. In accordance with these values, the BSA believes in developing spaces that are not only beautiful, but are safe, healthy, and address the welfare of all.
