First Phase of Co-Creating Boston's Future Decker Competition Ends

RFI Future Decker BSA Page

This summer, the BSA and the Mayor's Housing Innovation Lab put out a request for ideas, Co-Creating Boston's Future-Decker, inviting teams and individuals to ideate and propose new housing that can be built on small sites in Boston. The call closed on Friday, July 30, with a total of 17 submissions.

We look forward to sharing submitted ideas with you in our upcoming housing exhibition, and for your input as we move on to the second phase of the competition next year.

This project is a part of the BSA's housing innovation efforts, which aim to address the complex housing challenges that residents, designers, and numerous other residents face in the city of Boston.

Ahead of the submission deadline, residents and community members, along with members of the BSA staff, gathered at the Codman Square branch of the Boston Public Library. Attendees had the opportunity to talk through their proposals with Boston architects and designers, who sketched their suggestions for Future-Decker designs in real time.

Pens and pencils were flying as residents and designers engaged in dialogues that brought Future-Decker ideas to life.
