Kolmanskop, is a ghost town from 1908 in Africa’s Namib Desert. By 1912, a town sprung up, producing a million carats a year, or 11.7% of the world’s total diamond production. By 1956, it was completely abandoned. The dunes now burst through the town’s doors, filling its rooms with sand.

The Blue Swallow Motel is a classic Motor Court established in 1939 on historic Route 66, and one of few anywhere still operating in its original configuration. This lovely Motel is located in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
