Designer Spotlight: LOYAL

Interested in alternative business models or branching out to diversify your small design practice? Please join us this month in welcoming Kimberly and Ryan Habbyshaw, owners of LOYAL (loyalunion.com). Kimberly and Ryan are a designer and producer team with a roster of clients ranging from Lululemon and New Balance to local breweries and wine bars. In addition to their design studio, they own and curate a retail shop and wholesale line (loyalsupplyco.com) from their locations in Union Square, Somerville. Small practitioners can gain inspiration from Kim and Ryan’s unorthodox approach. This discussion will start with an overview of their career paths and decisions that led them to their current model. They will also cover strategy, how they navigated road blocks along the way, and the pros and cons of alternative approaches. Following the presentation will be an informal roundtable discussion and Q+A session.
