What makes a Monument? A Youth Design Workshop at the Boston Public Library

How does a city or a community tell its story? Who gets to decide which stories are told and how they are told? In this hands-on design workshop series led by architects from BSA Space, students will ask these questions and begin to define for themselves how to tell the story of Boston’s history.

Students will then use the Design Process to design a new monument for a site in downtown Boston. Using art, math, social studies, science, and language arts skills, students will complete their designs with drawings and the creation of a three dimensional model from recycled materials. This program is for students in grade five–seven.
