This month, Family Design Day is all about skyscrapers! Boston, home to the Hancock and Prudential towers, is taking steps to elevate the city’s skyline. But how tall can architects and engineers actually build? Learn more about the architecture, science, and art behind what keeps the world’s tallest buildings standing and then, using a kit of parts, design and build your own skyscraper.

This family program is designed for parents and children aged five to 10 years old (please see the afternoon session for children aged 10 – 13). A maximum ratio of one adult per three children is required. Tickets are $10 per person (both adults and children), $8 for Friends of BSA Space* and BSA members.

Family Design Day programs encourage children and adults to observe, explore, and design together. In these two-hour hands-on workshops, families are introduced to architecture and design through exhibit tours, walking tours, or slideshows and then complete a hands-on design activity. Architects and design educators lead the activities focused on the built environment of Boston and the world (or universe!).

Family Design Days are a program of the BSA Foundation.
