Featured speakers:
John Nunnari, Executive Director of AIA/MA

This is John Nunnari's brief report on codes and regulatory activities including the status of pending legislation and Building Code / regulatory changes of interest to Owners, Developers, Architects, and Engineers. Topics include the status of Codes by Boards that oversee areas of building construction and coordination of codes (BCCC) – including status of Access, Plumbing and Fire Codes.

8:30 AM to 10:00 AM The Zero Energy Appendix

The 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) will contain an optional appendix for “Zero Energy” performance. AIA MA has also submitted a code proposal to the State Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS), consisting of an edited version of the IECC appendix, which could become the basis for the next “Stretch” Energy Code in Massachusetts. This presentation will introduce attendees to both proposals, with explanations of their intent, provisions and differences.
