ADA and AAB Requirements for Buildings
Guest speaker: Kathy Gips, Director of Training. New England ADA Center
The facility requirements for equal access for persons with disabilities are central to the work of all architects. The core of these requirements are identified in the ADA Standards and the regulations of the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board. This presentation will address critical areas where the federal and state requirements differ: employee areas, alterations, vertical access, toilet rooms, ramps, technical infeasibility and variances. Kathy Gips will also discuss where the requirements conflict and present a few resolutions, as well as review common errors and omissions.
As a complement to the presentation our speaker will provide a PDF to all attendees who request it.
This meeting may also be attended via video-conferencing – but CEs are through self-reporting. To join remotely, go to https://zoom.us/j/4733555948, run Zoom Launcher, and use Meeting ID: 473-355-5948
