Savannah Trims has been designing and supplying architectural building products since 1985 including commercial flood protection since 1998, and is owned and led by former US Army Combat Engineer Gene Kennedy and a staff experienced in commercial architecture and engineering. With the advent of climate change and frequent flooding in many areas, FEMA and the NFIP have been expanding the flood maps to include coastal as well as inland properties and require some form of flood mitigation on new buildings and any older buildings at 50% renovation. Savannah Trims offers a wide range of options including Flood Glass, Flood Doors / Gates, Flood Hatches, Flood Barriers and Flood Louvers with water heights of 27’ and above. Each project has unique specific requirements so we design and test to meet this. Our 25,000 sq ft facility includes an in house testing department consisting of four test tanks and the provisions to perform tests on multiple flood products. By completing this course the design professional will be able to: Articulate the primary causes of flood events and what role humans play through land alteration, etc. Bestow to whom the responsibilities lie with regards to: identifying flood prone conditions, ascribing guidelines, driving the use of protection, developing protective solution, and implementing the solutions Overview terminology related to flood zones, flood forces, and water height designations Verify compliance of designated protection through engineering calculations that adhere adopted guidelines Elaborate on the flood protection objectives, considerations, and protection schemes and devices
