Inspired by the format of a book club but designed to include both print and other media such as movies and podcasts, On the Same Page seeks to bring individuals together for an open conversation. We acknowledge that much remains to be learned about inequities and systemic injustices and propose that we will benefit from exploring these topics with each other.
For our next meeting at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, please feel free to read/view some or all of the following material:
Book: Exile and Pride: Disability, Queerness, and Liberation by Eli Clare (Duke University Press, 2019). (216 pages) Video: Documentary directed by Kate Davis, Southern Comfort (2001). Available on tubi and fuboTV (1 hr 30 min minutes) Zine: Design Justice Zine: Issue 1, Principles for Design Justice, by the Design Justice Team 2016: https://designjustice.org/. (7 pages)
In addition, we have compiled the book list below for our upcoming meetings. We welcome print and other media suggestions from participants – please bring suggestions to our August meeting or send them to the co-chairs (contact information below). As a reminder, please consider supporting your local bookstore, or purchase from sites such as indiebound.org or bookshop.org.
