As chairs of the AIA Massachusetts Government Affairs Committee (GAC), we would like to invite all interested members to join us for an update on the legislative and regulatory issues that could have an impact on the way we practice architecture here in Massachusetts.

This month, our special guest speaker is Rep. Jeffrey Roy (D-Franklin). Rep. Roy is the House Chair of the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy (JCTUE). The JCTUE, which crafted the Commonwealths climate change bill enacted this past January, has purview over all matters concerning the exploration and development of energy sources within the Commonwealth along with siting of energy facilities, public utilities and wind farms. Specifically, we will discuss the intersection between his committees' work and our advocacy agenda and consider how our members can better become a resource to him, the Committee, and the Legislature in general.

As the sole committee of the Massachusetts chapter of AIA, the GAC’s mission is to actively participate in the legislative and regulatory process and encourage public advocacy.
