COTE: Material Selection Made Easy—A Guide to Healthy, Sustainable and Equitable Specifications

One of the most significant decisions made in building design is material selection. Materials impact occupant health, embodied carbon, and environmental justice among other things. Vetting materials is often time consuming and confusing. In this program, we will hear from three experts in material selection to help us understand how to select materials that are healthy, sustainable, and just and how to recognize green washing. Using the AIA Healthy Materials Pledge as a framework for the presentation, this panel will include Anne Hicks Harney, Lisa Goodwin Robbins, and Charley Stevenson to guide us through material selection and specification.
