Explore the nuts and bolts of High-Performance Windows and Doors and the overall benefits of specifying them, in terms of energy performance, sustainable construction and improved user enjoyment and comfort. As part of the building envelope, criteria for high performance building components are established by programs such as PHIUS (Passive House Institute United States), USGBC and NFRC. Join Patrick Higgins CPHT, of Eco Windows and Facades, who will present an AIA continuing education session pertaining to High Performance Windows and Doors. In this program he will review the components and criteria that comprise a single high-performance unit, and discuss details and best installation practices to compliment a high-performance window and door package. He will suggest quality control options and other building products that can help assist and execute a high-performance envelope installation. The approach to and benefits of integrating a high-performance window and door package into historical projects also will be covered. Case studies to re-enforce the topics covered, followed by a question-and-answer period, will wrap up this virtual presentation.
