The Greenway staff will host this WiD Wednesday for a walking tour of the current art exhibits on the park. Each year, the curators work to feature temporary and contemporary installations along the parks’ 1.7 mile length. The Big Dig, completed in 2007, made it possible for the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy to begin their work designing the landscape, programming public events and curating art on the park.

The Greenway offers artists a unique setting to showcase work. This urban park has over 20 different parcels and spans 5 different neighborhoods of Boston. The Greenway staff will explain their site specific approach to curation and discuss the challenges of working on a the roof of the expressway tunnel. In addition to the artwork, the Greenway is host to hundreds of programs each summer, from Chinatown performances to movie nights near Rowes Wharf. Their dedicated horticultural staff maintains 17 acres of organically fertilized gardens, meadows and greenspace. This tour will give attendees an inside look at the what it takes to keep a complicated urban space working for the city of Boston.

After registration, attendees will receive a meeting point map and tour map. The 45 minute tour will begin at the Rings Foundation adjacent to the Aquarium stop and end at the Dewey Square mural. We will continue the conversation at the City Winery in Dewey Square!

Please note that attendance is limited to 30 people for this free tour. All are welcome for the City Winery networking event afterward.
