Building Enclosure Council: Building Science Fundamentals (Hybrid)

This presentation will explore how a functional approach to enclosure design can help designers with both solving problems and increasing building performance. The presentation will explain enclosure control layer functions and materials, and describe rules of thumb for using the “perfect wall” approach. Attendees will learn how to create continuity between control layers, how to identify thermal bridges and mitigate their effects, and how to consider control layers with architectural details. Examples of enclosure details showing control layers will be shown and discussed.
