We are visiting the wood working shop of Architectural Openings in Somerville!
"Founded in 1987 by Steve Kearns, a life-long wood-worker whose lineage includes many fine crafts people, the company’s goal is to make beautiful custom products that will last as long as it would take for another tree to grow to replace them."
Join us for a great opportunity to visit the shop of Steve Kearns who manufactures with his crew large format windows and doors. He takes great pride in the choice of materials, precision of joinery, the skill and dedication of workers and the beauty of the finished products. We will learn about e-glazing, precision tools, and wood species for doors and windows. We will learn about the challenges to build for projects at the ocean, getting historical windows up to energy standards, and custom manufacture windows up to passive house standards.
