Utilizing innovative technology, materials, and design techniques, Elkus Manfredi Architects recaptured the original architectural splendor of Emerson College’s historic Little Building, met students’ needs, and made a strong case for the use of embodied carbon reductions as a driver for preservation and adaptive repurposing of our built environment.

Elkus Manfredi Vice President and Project Manager of the Little Building project, Ross Cameron RIBA RIAS, will present a historic review of the Little Building, and walk attendees through the strategies that the design team used to address its failing façade while increasing the bed count, improving student life spaces, and implementing current life safety codes. He will end by explaining the significance of the project’s embodied carbon reductions. Following the presentation, there will be a short tour through the Little Building’s historic two-level arcade and a look at the exterior façade of the building.

Coffee will be provided.

Please note this meeting will not occur on the second Thursday.
