April Meeting

We will follow a quick update on our three ongoing projects with a presentation by Charles Newman, an early contributor to the GDI for Refugee Children. Charles will present his recently completed work designing 15 playgrounds in refugee camps in Thailand, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Highlighted will be his participatory design strategies employed between parent/teacher consultations and voting exercises with community children. The designs span different natural environments, alternate service delivery models, and varying administrative restrictions imposed upon the settlement communities. A discussion about the design process will follow.
Charles Newman is a recent graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Design (M.Des, Risk and Resilience) and the director of Unfrastructure Design LLC, an international design and development consultancy practice.

We would also like to announce that Mayor Martin J. Walsh recommended the Lena Park CDC Unity Park project for funding through the Community Preservation Act.

Please also consider donating to the Bar Elias Playground Improvements. To donate please visit The Karam Foundation.
