Event Description

What happens when two projects, similar in size and budget, are completely different in concept? One, a new build that re-imagines the Prairie style, combining modern sensibilities with design features reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright. The other, a historic Neoclassical Revival, where the goal was to update its function for modern living while thoughtfully preserving the home’s historic merits and rich character.

Join David Boronkay, Principal of Slocum Hall Design Group for this webinar, as he navigates these two very different homes, providing insights into how he approached each project, and their award-winning outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Define the principles of designing for the luxury market by analyzing the case studies of a Prairie style new build and a Neoclassical Revival renovation.

  • Evaluate the differences in design approach and methodology between modernizing a historic property while preserving its character and creating a contemporary home inspired by a specific architectural style.

  • Identify key considerations in balancing modern sensibilities with historic preservation in architectural design, as demonstrated in the projects discussed.

  • Analyze the role of client collaboration and interpretation of their goals in shaping the design process and achieving award-winning outcomes, as exemplified by David Boronkay's work with Slocum Hall Design Group.
