SEC: The IgCC—An Introduction

The International green Construction Code is the first sustainability code intended for both maximum jurisdictional flexibility and mandatory compliance. A. Vernon Woodworth FAIA, will summarize how the IgCC was created by the International Code Council with participation by the AIA, USGBC, ASHRAE, and others. The green code follows the format of a LEED rating system, including opportunities for optional “credits”, with a front end for enforcement by local building, zoning, fire and plumbing officials. This presentation will introduce the format and application of the code and describe the adoption process, subsequent amendments, and current status.
