This is a brief report on codes and regulatory activities including the status of pending legislation and Building Code / regulatory changes of interest to Owners, Developers, Architects, and Engineers. Topics include the status of Codes by Boards that oversee areas of building construction and coordination of codes (BCCC).

For this sixth session of the 2018 Codes Committee's annual cycle of code presentations, Engineer Sean Bush of SGH and Brian Kuhn of Code Red Consultants will focus the evolving technologies of Mass Timber Construction.

This presentation will address fundamentals and drivers of mass timber construction and will focus on the structural and fire safety design challenges of mass timber. Discussion will include proposed changes to the 2021 edition of the international building code. The presentation will examine examples of mass timeber and CTL projects in the United States and abroad.

As a complement to the presentation our speaker will provide a PDF to all attendees who request it.
