This is a brief report on codes and regulatory activities including the status of pending legislation and Building Code / regulatory changes of interest to Owners, Developers, Architects, and Engineers. Topics include the status of Codes by Boards that oversee areas of building construction and coordination of codes (BCCC).

Adoption of the 9th Edition of the MSBC is Now Official

For this opening session of the 2018 Codes Committee’s annual cycle of code presentations, Cosentini Associates’ Bob Leber and Rocky Edwards will highlight key features of the MSB 9th Ed./ IBC 2015 and update their presentation from January 2016.

Discussion will include code changes between the 2009 and 2015 IBC editions; modifications to Use and Occupancy and Special Use and Occupancy requirements, changes to fire protection and egress requirements, membrane penetrations, added references to NFPA Standards and the current Massachusetts amendments. They will also identify changes to the Existing Building Requirements and the Energy Code. The presentation includes numerous illustrations, examples and applications.

As a complement to the presentation our speaker will provide a PDF to all attendees who request it.
