8:30 AM to 10:00 AM Presentation
The Role of Specifications in Code Compliance
Guest Speakers: Mark Kalin FAIA, FCSI, LEED, President of Kalin Associates, Inc.
Kevin Hastings, PE, LEED AP, President of Hastings Consulting, Inc.
This final session of the 2017 Codes Committee’s annual cycle of code presentations is also a first for the committee. Preparation of permit documents must specifically record code compliance of the project’s materials and systems.

Mark and Kevin will discuss how codes are referenced and not referenced in specifications and show how ICC-ES reports & industry standards are incorporated in Specifications. They will also explain the division of responsibility between owner and design in project manuals.
One very hot topic included in this presentation is how 9th Edition changes specs based on NFPA 285 compliance.

As a complement to the presentation our speaker will provide a PDF to all attendees who request it.

This meeting may also be attended via video-conferencing – but CEUs are through self-reporting. To join remotely, go to https://zoom.us/j/4733555948, run Zoom Launcher, and use Meeting ID: 473-355-5948.

For those who qualify, 1.5 LU/HSWs are available.
