Height, Area, and Construction Type
Guest Speakers: Paul Moan, PE, and Corey Fisher, Code Red Consultants, LLC
This 7th session of the Codes Committee’s annual cycle of code presentations will revisit the relationship between the area and height of a building and the different types of construction available to designers.

This presentation will cover the different construction types of the building code, what materials are applicable for each construction type, and special exceptions when certain materials can be used in construction types not otherwise permitted. The presentation will cover Chapter 5 of the IBC relative to allowable height and area, changes to the 2015 IBC height/area tables, and special circumstances that allow for mixed construction types, podium construction, unlimited area buildings, and other special provisions.

As a complement to the presentation our speaker will provide a PDF to all attendees who request it.
