Event Description

Part 2 of The This is Not a Lecture. a Series of discussions with Innovators and Fabricators.

The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is well under construction in the Badlands of North Dakota. It is scheduled to open July 4th 2026, the 250th birthday of the United States. The project began with an invited competition in 2020 right as NYC was hit hard with COVID. The team worked from their homes scattered across the country from New York to California. Despite limited access to tools and space, physical models were an important part of the competition proposal and, to this current day, continues to feed the design process. This tells the story of the library, with a focus on physical models and fabrication.

Snøhetta, named after a mountain in central Norway, is a transdisciplinary, dialogue-driven practice. Architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, art, product design, graphic and digital design, often integrate a combination of interests across our projects. Making physical things is a vital part of design at Snohetta. The work ranges from quick initial concept models to ones with intricate detail to full scale mock-ups and furniture.
