Event Description

This tour showcases the decade-long design and construction effort behind the iconic Raffles hotel brand’s first-ever U.S. location, a 35-story Back Bay tower incorporating hotel, residential, and commercial uses. With the architects, you'll discover unexpected design solutions that overcame the constraints of an exceedingly tight and complex site in one of Boston’s densest historic neighborhoods.

Highlights of the tour include a unique double-cantilever air rights structure that opens up much-needed square footage, an airfoil-shaped profile that calms strong wind from the neighboring Hancock Building, and a discussion of other key factors shaping this project, ranging from glass selection to strategies for accommodating exceptionally diverse programmatic requirements.
