Marc Margulies FAIA has worked to alleviate the stress of Boston residents living without permanent homes since 1983, volunteering, serving in leadership roles with the Heading Home shelter, engaging architects in awareness (organizing an architect-design birdhouses auction in 1999) and designing solutions for shelter and housing (including McKay House, Cambridge, 2000; 479 Concord Avenue, Cambridge, 2006; 37 Wales Avenue, Dorchester, 2012). His commitment has been recognized by the Mass Housing Shelter Alliance, Caritas Communities, and others. He and Tom Lorello, Executive Director of Heading Home, lead a conversation with the BSA Committee on Homelessness about our current status, solutions, impediments, and about the unique skills and perspective that architects and designers lend.
