Healthcare environments demand more from flooring than almost any other building type—durability, cleanability, safety, acoustic performance, chemical resistance, and more. Yet, many flooring decisions are made without a full understanding of how materials perform over time, how substrate conditions impact outcomes, or how evolving standards and sustainability goals affect product selection. This roundtable brings together a diverse panel of experts representing multiple perspectives—healthcare interior design, healthcare facilities management, an owner’s rep, and construction management—to shed light on the realities, challenges, and best practices behind flooring in hospitals and healthcare facilities.
Through candid conversation and cross-disciplinary insights, panelists will tackle real-world questions submitted by architects, facility teams, and owners—ranging from moisture mitigation and installation failures to antimicrobial claims, noise control, and trends like carpet removal and material health. Whether you’re specifying finishes, managing budgets, coordinating construction, or maintaining facilities, this session will leave you with a stronger foundation for making flooring decisions that actually hold up in practice.
