Emerging Residential Models - Project Q

Please join the Design for Aging Committee as we explore emerging “affinity-based” urban living options for older adults. Speakers Paul Duffy and Philippe Saad will present Project Q, a not-for-profit community-building project proposed for a central Boston neighborhood. Its mission is to complement a thriving community life already developed in the host and surrounding neighborhoods while it allows residents of Boston to age healthily, inter-generationally without the need to leave the city. Core constituencies will be drawn from long-term Boston residents of these same and surrounding neighborhoods - with particular focus on the older adult LGBT communities.

Project Q founders will address the 4 main questions at the core of the project creation:
What is Project Q?
Who will be part of Project Q?
Why Project Q is important for our community and city?
Where will Project Q be located in our city?

Philippe Saad is a resident of Boston and a senior associate at DiMella Shaffer where he focuses on community based housing and the design for older adults and specialized populations. He is passionate about creating integrated urban living for the city’s demographics to include the older adult population. He is a native of Lebanon, a graduate from the American University of Beirut and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He leads multiple initiatives in his neighborhood of Dorchester and is currently the president of Greater Ashmont Main Street.

Paul Duffy is the vice president of marketing for North Hill Communities. His portfolio includes coordination of all marketing efforts across the North Hill family: the transformation of North Hill through Project True North; the roll-out of new supportive living households at Vista Terrace and Pines Edge; and the emergence of North Hill Home Health. Paul is also an educational marketing professional with over 25 years of experience and the founder of Compass Eight . He has lived and worked in seven countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Sri Lanka, Russia, New Zealand and Switzerland. He attended the University of Chicago, holds a certificate in the teaching of English as a foreign language from International House London; and is a certified master gardener.
