Join the BSA's Historic Resources Committee for our first event of 2026! Meet Kathy Kottaridis, Director of the City of Boston Office of Historic Preservation, for an inside look at the Office’s priorities and initiatives for the year ahead. Kathy will discuss the role of the Office of Historic Preservation within Boston’s broader municipal planning framework and how preservation policy is developed and implemented at the city level.
Attendees will learn about current initiatives and outreach efforts, as well as strategies for staying informed about future developments in Boston’s evolving planning and preservation landscape. The discussion will highlight the collaborative relationships between the Office of Historic Preservation, the Boston Landmarks Commission, the BPDA, and the Environment, Energy, and Open Space Cabinet, illustrating how interdepartmental coordination shapes development and preservation outcomes.
Looking ahead, Kathy will address emerging challenges and opportunities facing historic preservation in Boston over the next five years, encouraging thoughtful discussion around policy, growth, equity, and innovation in urban preservation practice.
