FGI Guidelines Update for 2016

In the era of health care reform, state and federal payers, clinicians, patients, and professionals supporting the health care physical environment are challenging many traditional design concepts. Influenced by this climate, the 2014 edition of the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities offers increased efficiencies and clarifies requirements.

The 2018 revision cycle has officially begun and included a public proposal period which ended in October 2015. Kurt Rockstroh FAIA, FACHA, President and CEO of Steffian Bradley Architects and Sterling Planning Alliance will review the most significant proposals that were submitted. He will also review how the 2014 edition supports today's clinical practices and patient safety concerns including updates to the operating room suite, sterile processing, endoscopy, dialysis, and imaging requirements as well as new requirements for risk assessments and medication safety zones. Kurt has been involved with the last six editions of the FGI “Guidelines for Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities.” He currently serves as the President of The Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI).

For those who qualify, 1.5 LUs/HSW are available
