Tour of the New Winthrop Middle High School

Please join HMFH Architects and Superintendent of Schools, John Macero, for a tour of the newly opened Winthrop Middle High School in Winthrop, MA. The school is designed for 970 students in grades 6-12 on a very tight sight in the heart of the Winthrop community. HMFH and the school department will discuss the academic and financial benefits of combining two smaller schools into one larger facility while still keeping the small learning community feel. The tour will also focus on the learning commons and project areas which are being successfully used for cross curricular and STEAM education at the middle school level, demonstrate how architecture can showcase academic as well as athletic achievement and how building in the 100 year flood plain can drive positive and resilient design practices.

Note: We will meet at the school. Please bring a photo ID.
