Human Resource Concerns for Entrepreneur Architects

As a professional services business, arguably, the most critical part of your practice is finding, managing and retaining the best people to help your practice take flight.

Expanding upon our earlier session on hiring from a firm-owner’s perspective, this month, we’ll have a Q&A discussion with two human resource experts: Jessica Toohey, Human Resource Professional and Senior Consultant at SwiftRiver Associates; and Jessica Smith, Director of Human Resources at Bergmeyer Associates. Our esteemed architect colleague Andrea Morton, AIA will help kick off our discussion by sharing her own hiring experiences.

Discussion topics may cover: technical aspects of hiring (e.g.,1099 vs. W-2); human aspects of organizations (e.g., firm culture, branding, employee fit); and entrepreneur-specific concerns (e.g., employee-sharing, part-time hires, virtual assistants, partnering arrangements, working with an HR consultant).

Come share your own successes, burning questions and ideas. Lunch will be served; please RSVP so that we can get an accurate attendance count.

After the meeting, at 2 pm, we’ll re-convene to discuss forming possible Mastermind peer-support groups for anyone interested.

For those who qualify, 1.5 LUs are available.
