Hiring Employees and Growing an Architectural Practice

Transitioning from being a sole proprietor to having one or more employees is a big step for any business. How do you do this well? What are some ways to assess whether a job candidate is a good fit? How do you grow your people? Is it better to hire short term to address busy periods or try to invest training employees for the long haul? What about partnering versus hiring? How do you best delegate responsibility? Should you hire for experience or personality? Are there systems you can put in place in your office to help an employee perform at their best? How do you work with a candidate’s strengths and weaknesses? Is it better to hire generalists or people who are good at specific types of work? When do you decide to let someone go?

This month we’ve invited architects Ted Galante AIA, The Galante Architecture Studio and Paul Lukez FAIA, Paul Lukez Architecture to join us for an open Q&A discussion on this issue. Come with your questions on this topic and come share your experiences.

Lunch will be served at this meeting, so please RSVP so that we can get a good head count for food.

For those who qualify, 1.5 LUs are available.
