Women in Design - WiD Wednesday

Join us for WiD Wednesday at the new MIT Theater Arts Building, located in a transformed warehouse at 345 Vassar Street. designLAB architects will lead a tour of the 25,000sf performing arts building, which is designed to showcase the work involved in creating theater through flexible, interconnected design studios, rehearsal and dance studios, and shop spaces.

designLAB will present the work, which benefited greatly from a close collaboration between the design team and the award-winning MIT Theater Arts faculty, who requested a “continuous studio, both beautiful and un-precious”. By embracing the generic, remnant shell of the original industrial building and designing interior spaces that act as a “blank canvas” for the creation of art, the design team will share how a once anonymous warehouse space was transformed into a vibrant destination at the western extent of campus.

WiD Wednesdays are casual networking events that occur on the first Wednesday of every month with a focus on celebrating local design.
