Meeting Ebola at the Door

This presentation, “Meeting Ebola at the Door” will show strategies for effective design and workflow planning to address patients with Ebola and other lethal infectious diseases in resource-challenged settings. The design and development of an Ebola Triage unit prototype for hospitals in Libera and Sierra Leonne will be a case study to address the following questions.
1. How can education, planning, protocols and design strategies mitigate risks to care providers and patients while providing comfort and dignity?
2. How can design provide creative strategies that support sustainable solutions and economic opportunities in resource-limited areas?
3. What can be learned and applied to hospital emergency departments and non-hospital urgent care centers?

Our presenter for this session is Gerard M. Georges, Associate at Shepley Bulfinch.
