Restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple, Oak Park, Illinois

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1908, Unity Temple is one of Wright's greatest early works and a National Historic Landmark. It is included as one of the ten sites nominated to the World Heritage list as the Key Works of Modern Architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright. The recently completed $23 million restoration included concrete repairs, recreation of original plaster and paint finishes, wood restoration, art glass restoration, lighting restoration, new MEP systems including geothermal wells, and the introduction of air conditioning. The project also included the integration of accessibility improvements, theatrical lighting, audio visual systems, IT and security upgrades.

Robert Score AIA, Director of Historic Preservation, Consigli Construction, Boston, was the architectural lead for the development of the preservation plan, conservation studies and the restoration in his prior role at Harboe Architects, PC, Chicago, IL. He will present the investigations and treatments that were implemented for the restoration.

Please join us to hear and discuss Bob's work and welcome him to the Boston preservation community.

RSVP to [email protected] by noon on Monday March 11 if you plan to attend.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday!
